Hallie & Jason first came from New York looking for a fairly intimate and secluded setting for their wedding weekend. The 2-day affair was held in Alentejo at Herdade da Malhadinha, a beautiful estate located in the middle of the wilderness, where you wake up in the morning and hear the birds singing, while your mind slips away with the wonderful summer breeze. For their wedding day, they wanted to experience what Portugal had to offer, setting the tone for what would be an organic and "down-to-earth" wedding concept.
the concept
With a minimalistic aesthetic in mind, our focus was to emphasize the Portuguese culture and heritage, while not being too obvious about our approach. Both the welcome party and the wedding structure were simple and organic, allowing guests to move at their own pace, while enjoying the cultural activities we had in store. From making ceramics to creating your own mix of olive oil, we engraved them onto our Portuguese roots and they absolutely loved it! For the color palette we based the wedding aesthetic on the change from day to night at the location, using nude tones and contrast. For decoration, we created an experience that ranged from wild florals & hand painted materials, to a scented alfresco dinner setting that was simple, yet filled with stunning details like layered wedding menus to resemble the levels of the vineyards.
